There are some changes happening with our yearly music spectacular, 80dB, and we wanted to let you know what will be different this year:
First of all, 80dB 2019 will take place two months earlier than usual. The dates for the two performances are Tuesday the 12th of February, and Wednesday the 13th of February 2019—the week before the “voorjaarsvakantie.”
Klassiek en Unplugged will not be taking place this year.
The audition and rehearsal process will also be much earlier this year. The deadline for students to inscribe themselves with an act, to play with the band, or to work behind the scenes at 80dB will be Monday the 1st of October. The forms to inscribe will be mailed to all students this coming Friday.
The auditions for 80dB will take place from Monday the 8th to Thursday the 11th of October. The program will be announced on October 12, and rehearsals will begin directly following the fall vacation.
Being that there is no Klassiek en Unplugged this year, we will allow a small selection of “unplugged” numbers on 80dB. Students may therefore, if they wish, choose to audition with softer, more melodious repertoire (also including jazz, world, and light classical music) that normally would fit better on K&U.
We look forward to receiving the applications from all interested students. Our plan is to make this year’s edition of 80dB even more special than last year!
Mr. Weisser, Mr. Horstink, and the 80dB commissie.
